Strengthening the Litmus FM team: Dr Lucy Hind joins as Senior Consultant

January 27, 2026

We’re excited to announce we have strengthened our team with Dr Lucy Hind joining us as a Senior Consultant.

Lucy brings with her more than 30 years’ experience across estates, facilities management and sustainability, spanning the public sector, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, IFM and highly complex, multi-site environments. She has operated consistently at senior and board level, leading large, geographically dispersed portfolios and delivering transformation programmes that align operational excellence with long-term strategic objectives.

One of Lucy’s most significant career achievements came during her time at Covance, where she worked from 2008 to 2019. During this period, Lucy played a pivotal role in transforming the organisation’s facilities model - first across Europe, andlater on a global scale. She led the development and implementation of the FM strategy that underpinned this shift, creating a consistent, scalable and high-performing model that supported the business’s international growth. It’s a body of work Lucy is particularly proud of, and one that speaks to her ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels in complex global organisations.

More recently, Lucy took on the role of Estates Project Lead for the consolidation of six hospitals, across two Trusts - Guy’s Foundation Trust which incorporates Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust - into a single, state-of-the-art facility in London. Located on Blackfriars Road, the project presented significant operational and logistical challenges, all of which Lucy oversaw end-to-end.

Spanning 10 floors, the building is truly one-of-a-kind.It is the first BREEAM-rated building within the NHS estate and has since won a Royal School of Pathology Sustainability Award. It is also home to world-class technology, including advanced robotics and automated systems that improve clinical efficiency and patient outcomes, which includes a sample management delivery system (Telelift to all floors), and world leading tracks for diagnostics from both BD & Abbott. This technology speeds up all cancer and other disease diagnosis to days rather than weeks - representing a transformational improvement in care.

Reflecting on the project, Lucy said: “This was a very special project for me. Professionally, it was a fantastic challenge - but as a breast cancer survivor, being able to play a part in improving services for others facing the disease meant a great deal. I was originally meant to lead the project for two years, but that turned into four with the inclusion of Estates service delivery strategy for Total Facilities Management and the organisation’s Target Operating Model (TOM). It was intense - I’d spend two weeks in London working seven days a week, then return home for a week before heading back -but it was incredibly rewarding. I’m extremely proud of what we achieved.”

Lucy combines deep technical expertise - as a Chartered Facilities Management professional and mechanical engineer - with strong commercial acumen. She has held accountability for substantial OPEX and CAPEX budgets, complex outsourcing arrangements, and major capital programmes in excess of £30m. She also has a proven track record in developing and delivering 10-15 year estate and asset strategies, optimising space utilisation, managing lifecycle programmes, and negotiating leases and commercial agreements across the UK and Europe.

Another major milestone in Lucy’s career was achieving her PhD in sustainability. She said: “Completing my PhD really cemented years of experience and felt like a stamp of my work. In the pharma and healthcare sectors especially, it helps demonstrate depth of knowledge and credibility - and that really matters.”

Lucy first met John Brownless, now Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer at Litmus FM, when they both worked at Sodexo. Following the completion of the London hospital project, the opportunity to join Litmus FM arose.

“I’m excited about this next chapter - being able to work flexibly while still getting involved in interesting and challenging FM projects,” Lucy said. “I learned a great deal from John when we worked together, particularly around the importance of delivering genuine added value to clients. It feels like a full-circle moment to be working together again after 20 years.”

Outside of work, Lucy is a Trustee of From Me to You, a charity that tackles the loneliness experienced by people with cancer by encouraging letter-writing and human connection. She also enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring the UK in her campervan, paddleboarding with her local community and practising yoga. Lucy also likes to travel spending time abroad when the opportunity arises with trips planned to Africa and the Far East.

Welcome Lucy!
